Fala Lipa!

Luego de estar unos dias en Zagreb, pasar por Split y recorrer parte de la Costa Dálmata, llegamos a Vela Luka -en croata "Puerto Grande"-, pueblito de la isla de Korcula, desde donde partieron, hace casi 80 años, los abuelos Nicola y Maria.
Un sitio bellísimo, pequeño y familiar, donde la vida parece ser muy apacible y relajada.
En la barbería de la rambla, frente a la plaza, trabaja Boris, primo directo de papá.
El nos llevó a cenar a su casa. Allí tomamos vino casero y recibimos a una parte de los Guguich-Cetinich que faltaban.
Son gente simple y hospitalaria. Disfrutan de juntarse a comer y conversar.
Jelena, hija de Boris - la única que habla inglés-, tuvo que hacer de intérprete.
Una pena no hablar Croata, aunque también fueron cómicos los intentos que improvisamos para hacernos entender.
Fue divertido cantar con ellos canciones croatas que nunca entendimos que dicen.
Buenisimo tener de pronto un familión re buena onda en pleno mar adriático, que te recibe como en casa...

After staying some days in Zagreb, visiting Split and some part of the Dalmatian Coast, we reached Vela Luka -in coatian big port-, a small town in the island of Korcula, from where my grandparents Nicola and Maria left almost 80 years ago.
It is a very beautiful place, where life seems to be very simple and relaxed.
In the barber-shop, in front of the square, works Boris, one of my dad´s direct cousins.
He took us to have dinner to his house. There we drank their home-made wine, and met another part of the Guguich-Cetinich family.
They are very kind and easygoing people, who like to get together, eat and talk.
Jelena, Boris daughter, -the only english speaker-, had no chance but to be the translator.
It is a pitty we cannot speak croatian, although it was also funny the strange ways in which we struggled to comunicate.
We enjoyed singing the croatian songs, -which we never understood the meaning-, but the best was to realize we have such a nice family so far away, that could make us feel as at home.
